Juggernaut28, I would not incourage the reading of any one book in particular, but here are two I like....Living Word, not really any closer than the KJV to the source, but very easy to read and understand, none of these words...

Another version is Martin Luther's original German translation, not as easy to read, but from a solid source...

I would not down you reading any bible of your choosing, any is better than none...

Do some research on your own about King James yourself and see what you come up with, you won't need my convincing, not much of a character for most of the world to follow...The KJV was transferred mostly from the Greek Textus Receptus, for one example which I have many, the TR speaks of immersion, but in each place you come to that in the KJV is speaks of baptism, which at that time in England meant "sprinkle", in no way does immersion translate to baptism, but for fear that it would be considered incorrect (although true) immersion was totally left out, and baptism used...We consider baptism today to be immersion sometimes, but at the time it was not considered that at all...

God is capable of anything. Man is more than capable of screwing something up that God intended to be perfect and His true Word.

That's what anyone's saying.

When God speaks it, it is what it is. When man gets a hold of it, it's hard telling what it will turn into or who's agendas will be served. That's why I feel prayer is more trustworthy than any version of the Bible.

By the same thought, are not the other books, letters that were found, the word of God? To me they are, now why they aren't included, I don't know.

If things were so completely crystal and uncorruptable by man, then there wouldn't be 3000 different branches of Baptists, etc

Kind of what ties into previous discussions where people get different views, different things out of the same scripture. God's word doesn't change, the persons understanding and views do.

There is a Bible that is called: The Greek and Hebrew Keynote study Bible. It is about 60 dollars or so but is a good read. It is not written in either so it is easy to understand. It has numbers beside the words that one can look up and find the original meaning of each word.I have never heard of the original Greek or Hebrew being mistranslated.
